ANNOUNCEMENTS

We are sad to announce the loss of our friend and classmate

Suzy Smith. The following is a copy of her obituary announcement:

Obituary for Suzy Smith

Suzy Smith, age 74, completed her victory lap to heaven on March 1, 2020. She is now cancer free and very happy. She was born in Thomasville, Georgia to Evelyn and Frank Smith. She had one sister, Sandy, whom along with her parents preceded her in death. Suzy was a Bible believing Christian who strived to be like Jesus. She was a proud “flag waving American” who loved to fly our flag at home and also to wear a flag shirt or hat every day. It was a privilege for her to thank all military personnel for their sacrifice and service. Suzy was a Mama to some special dogs, Sissy, Puff, Lucky Girl and Sugar Baby just to name a few. Suzy loved music, going to the beach and all sports. She was a good softball player and especially enjoyed softball and swimming. She enjoyed cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Braves. She was a wealth of knowledge about birds and passionate about photographing them. Over her lifetime she served as Program Director at the Service Club at Fort Stewart, Georgia. She worked at Abney’s Department Store in LaFayette for 10 years before becoming the shipping and receiving clerk and supervisor at Pyramid Mouldings in Rossville for over 20 years. A native of Thomasville, Georgia she moved to LaFayette in 1972 where she resided in Walker County and added to her family of friends. She loved her “claimed families” and blood relatives and had a special place in her heart for each one she loved. She had many lifelong friends and made new ones wherever she went. She had an infectious spirit and a smile that would light up the room. She had a gift of making people feel good about themselves and was a model of true friendship. Suzy was a gift, she was unbelievably brave and had an amazing faith that helped her live courageously through all life's challenges, including cancer, into eternity. There will be a celebration of life on March 21,2020 at 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home with a speaker at the end of the celebration. No flowers please! In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive Chattanooga, Tn. 37416. Online guest book at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by W. L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Homes, LaFayette, GA.
